World of Wheels 2011 – 3 Best of Class and 1 Outstanding!

The 2011 World of Wheels has come and gone. It went very well for the Modern team with 3 best of class and one outstanding. The boys put in long hours to complete the Jeep project which got Best in Class. The 66 Galaxie 500, 7 litre which was painted over 5 years ago received Best in Class. This was the first showing of the Galaxie. The Nova restoration which was completed in 2003 in dedication to Fran’s deceased sister received outstanding in class and best interior for a street machine. It was a long three days but Modern put there best foot forward from loading to leaving. The show had the best of cars and trucks from all over the country and it was nice to see the Modern vehicles score so high. As the owner I would like to thank the guys at Modern that made it happen. It was a true team effort.

Modern Auto Body Returns To World of Wheels Boston 2010

After a two year hiatus and as part of Modern Auto Body’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, Team Modern returned to the World of Wheels Boston show this past March 12th through 14th. This show was significant to us as it will likely be the last held at Boston’s Bayside Expo Center and quite possibly the last held within the metro Boston area if a new exhibition facility cannot be secured. Modern Auto Body has been proud to showcase our vehicles at this premier event over the years it is our hope that the World of Wheels Show will remain in Boston where it belongs.

The show highlighted by torrential rains the entire weekend still brought out some of the best vehicles of all types from throughout the region we have seen to date under one roof. The cars, the trucks, the bikes and the exhibitor camaraderie were all of the highest level. We could not believe the quality of the vehicles that were being exhibited it was amazing. Team Modern brought three vehicles to the show, two having been previously seen and one making it’s first appearance at a major national event.

The “Sick 1” our 139cubic inch V-Twin powerhouse ultra-custom was there. This bike is a total one-off special construction machine, has been featured twice in Hot Bike Magazine as their May of ’03 cover feature and again the next year as part of their “Hot Bike Hot 100” issue. Sick 1 is also a previous World of Wheels multi-category award winner.

Also shown our 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger a favorite of Team Modern completely restored to better than new condition by our staff three years ago. This car never fails to attract a crowd whenever it is shown It is a multiple area show winner, previous World of Wheels award winner and was exhibited at the 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Our “First Dance” car was the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. This car found locally was in remarkable condition for a New England vehicle the body was virtually rust free and has its original interior! Presently configured the Road Runner sports a Mopar Gen3 SRT 6.1 liter crate Hemi; TCI Super Streetfighter Transmission set up to be shifted via the stock column shifter, coupled to a Gear Venders electric overdrive; Ride Tech Shockwave suspension system consisting of their Strong Arm control arms up front, 4-link conversion system in the rear with Shockwave Select Series air dampers all around; custom air pressure control system; Strange Engineering custom built 4-link DANA60 rear end with 4:11 gear set; a custom designed to the vehicle audio system by Bumper to Bumper of Brockton, Ma.; Classic Auto Air air conditioning system; Be Cool cooling system; and smoothed firewall. There are additional significant performance enhancements set for the future so keep checking back!

To say we were both humbled and proud of the reception we received doesn’t begin to describe our feelings……
