August 2007- Fran Fistori Hosts Outing For Youngsters From Handi Kids Camp

Many area residents know Fran Fistori as the extremely successful owner of Modern Auto Body in Brockton, but not everyone is aware of how much this remarkable man quietly does for the community, especially for young people who need a helping hand or a chance to improve their lives.

On Friday, August 17, Fistori and his wife hosted the second annual outing for youngsters enjoying the summer at the Handi Kids coed day camp in Bridgewater. For nine weeks during July and August, children and young adults with physical or intellectual challenges have an opportunity to participate in sports, group games, arts & crafts, nature walks, and other activities.

Fistori treated the kids and staff to a buffet with tasty cookout-style food at the Shaw’s Center, followed by a Brockton Rox game. Balloon artist Joe Berger twisted balloons into brightly-hued headwear for those who wanted it.

Fistori has also sponsored a D.A.R.E. cooking program for children at Massasoit Community College.

A 1975 graduate of Blue Hills Regional Technical School, Fistori serves on its District School Committee as the representative from Avon. He also sits on the advisory board for Southeastern Regional Technical School and is vice president of the Montello Business Association. Modern Auto Body supports Brockton North Little League, Brockton High School athletics, Blue Hills Regional’s Adopt-a-Shop and holds automotive classes in the Brockton area several times a year for Blue Hills and Southeastern Regional students at no cost to them.

Modern Auto body and Handi Kids Camp

Modern Auto body sponsored at night at the Brockton Rox's for the kids from the Handi Kids camp in Bridgewater. The night began with a dinner buffet and the balloon man Joe Berger making balloon creations for the kids. They also had a visit from "KO" the Rox mascot, enjoyed the rox game and were sent home with wind-up KO figurines. The kids and staff at Handi Kids had a great time.

Modern Auto body & Area Trade Schools

Modern Auto body is one of a few I-CAR Gold Class Shops in Massachusetts. We sponsor classes several times a year in the Brockton area and recently included students from both Blue Hills Technical School in Canton and Southeastern Regional in Easton. The class was provided at no cost to the students or the school but gave the kids the opportunity to learn from I-CAR's curriculum.

Modern Auto body also sponsors a toolship award to a student from Southeastern each year and is a proud sponsor of Blue Hills Adopt-A-Shop program.

D.A.R.E Massachusetts Cooking with Kids

We also sponsor D.A.R.E Massachusetts Cooking with Kids in conjunction with Massasoit Community College. Together we provide approximately four classes a year for local youth to learn culinary art skills. At the end of the program the kids have a graduation ceremony where they prepare a full meal for their families.
